KALE; Red Russian

Brassica oleracea acephala

Grey-green leaves with a red stem and mid rib. Use the leaves when they are small for stir-fry or salad. Hardy plant that can stay outside in winter and will tolerate frost.

Sowing instructions

Sow early in spring for a summer crop or in July to August for a winter crop. Sow the seeds 15 cm apart in rows of 45 to 55 cm.
