Phaseolus vulgaris

Climbing bean flat-podded Helda is suitable for outdoor or protected cropping. The beans are stringless, long, quite broad and flattened. Flat-podded bean varieties are very productive. 

Sowing instructions

Sow seeds 5 cm deep from mid May when the soil has warmed up. Place poles or canes at 25 cm apart in rows 50 cm apart. Put 5-6 seeds by each pole or cane. For an early crop sow in pot undercover in April and plant out in May.

Sow twice if you want to increase the harvesting period.

Growing instructions

Picking regularly (twice a week) and removing beans that are too thick maintains plant vigour. Cultivation should take place in a sheltered location.
